Edible Obsessions: Bananas Foster Waffles

I don't know about you, but I love breakfast food; waffles being at the top of my faves list. Coincidentally, I also love Bananas Foster, so I scoped out this fabulous Bananas Foster Waffles recipe. Who doesn't love a fluffy, delicious Belgian Waffle topped with Bananas Foster on a cold, winter Sunday morning? Bon Appétit!

Bananas Foster Recipe:

2 bananas
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons rum
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. While the butter is melting, slice the bananas. When the butter is melted, add the brown sugar and cinnamon and stir to dissolve the sugar. When the mixture is bubbling at the edges, add the bananas and stir to coat. Let the bananas cook in the syrup for a minute then remove them from the pan. Add the rum and carefully light the rum on fire by using a matchstick at least 10 to 12 inches long. Make sure your face is not anywhere near the pan. The fire will burn for about 2 minutes. After the fire burns out, stir the sauce and use as syrup for the waffles.
Belgian Waffle Recipe:
1/2 cup flour
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 tbsp melted butter
1 egg white

Preheat your waffle iron.
In a bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, and egg white. Add the wet ingredients to the dry, stirring until just combined.
Using a 1/2 cup dry measuring cup, scoop a rounded 1/2 cup of batter onto the waffle mold. Cook according to your waffle iron.

Top the waffles with bananas and drizzle with the Bananas Foster syrup.
